Maymessy cookbook shows our impact with Style acre 2023-2024

Some of our testimonials…

Cooking Summer Camp - In terms of feedback we asked the Young People to write down some comments on our feedback sheet which were as follows: “fun and got to choose what we wanted to put in out curry, would love to come back soon”, “I really liked it because we were allowed to add what we wanted and were able to put in what ever we all wanted. I also liked how Maia and Anna were able to help us and make the curry with us. It was very good” and “I loved it! We should go again.”

Staff-Wise we all thought it was an amazing experience for the young people. The fact that they got to go out and pick some of the ingredients themselves was fabulous. It was lovely to all sit around together and eat what we had created as well...We all enjoyed ourselves as much as the young people did. Yourself and Maia were fab with them all too and very understanding of all their individual needs. They all felt respected and listened too.

Honestly we have had some of the best laughs and fun over the last 4 weeks! I’ve learned so much. You should be so proud of what you have achieved with this Anna honestly it has been the best. I hope you will be able to continue it. If you ever need a helping hand or some one to come back I’d be more than happy too.

I can’t even tell you how grateful staff were this morning for your delivery/care packages. We really appreciate it. We even had tears!

Your cookies tasted like home and as I am so far away from home, you made this time working in Critical care a lot sweeter.

I am learning a lot about veg – really enjoying it and never touched any of these veg apart from tin tomatoes. Really educational – did not realise how easy it was to cook from fresh. Used to – when I moved out and got my own family and do school run – have work and no time... will use your cooking skills – will def do the curry again.

But I want to thank you for giving our young people, and the older people too such a great morning at Maymessy. The whole group gained so much from working together, helping each other and eating together. It felt like a family occasion.

Today was one of the best days I’ve had with this group. The group was formed in February and I’ve got to know them really well. Without doubt they really enjoyed it. I could see in their faces and the way they were interacting with you and working together, was so lovely to see. They were very proud of what they achieved and couldn’t wait to get back to their mom to give them a muffin.
You have played a big part in what we try and achieve at YoCO and I thank you for that.
 We will be back.
